Practitioner/Therapist

A BRCP Practitioner is usually trained to Level 4 and above and is able to make an independent assessment (complementary diagnosis) of the client. This will usually include a treatment plan tailored to the individual, with regular reviews to ensure that objectives and outcomes are being met, are realistic and achievable.

A BRCP Therapist is qualified to give a safe, therapeutic treatment and works within the guidelines of their training at Level 3.

The application cost to register your main discipline is £152 (this includes the administration charge of £70 and the annual registration charge of £82). Please note: Only the £82 annual registration charge is refunded if your application fails.

Along with your main discipline you may apply to add extra. Each one is charged at £15 (one-off fee). Your annual registration charge will remain at £82 inclusive of all your registered disciplines.

For any application, in the event of a full examination or an assessment being required, the BRCP Registration Panel reserves the right to make an additional charge.

Senior Practitioner

For teachers and those with higher levels of qualification and specialisation that are advancing their practice in some way, e.g. authors of published research or writers.

The BRCP offers practitioners the opportunity of upgrading their status to Senior Practitioner. This is open to all current BRCP Practitioners. Those practitioners who are not members of the BRCP can join as Senior Practitioners if they fulfil the following criteria:

  1. They have been practising to the standard of a BRCP-registered practitioner
  2. Can provide evidence of five years of continued good practice
  3. Can show examples of good Continuing Professional Development.

Senior Practitioners may be invited by the BRCP to become Advisors or Moderators for their discipline; offer and/or provide CPD modules through the BRCP; or become a spokesperson for their discipline.

There is a one-off fee of £50 for those who are already BRCP-registered or £220 (including £82 registration fee) for those who are not.

Student Membership of the BRCP costs £30 per year. Student Members can take advantage of the BRCP Block Insurance Scheme, administered by Balens Specialist Insurers, if they wish to. This is offered at a significantly reduced cost. The insurance will only be valid whilst BRCP Student Membership is maintained.

Balens can offer insurance discounts to BRCP students who live in ROI and some other European countries too. Please contact us for details if you're interested or let us have evidence of your student cover that you've sought elsewhere.

The following can be accepted as evidence of training on a BRCP-recognised course, such as a course accredited by VTCT/ITEC:

  1. Tutor signature
  2. Course validation/endorsement stamp
  3. Letter of acceptance/enrolment onto the course.

Students who are training on a BRCP Approved Training Course may join at the special rate of £20 per year and arrange your own insurance.

Once graduated, you will be eligible to upgrade to full BRCP membership at a reduced charge. In order to qualify for the reduced rate, you must have joined as a BRCP Student at least six months before the date of your final exam and must choose to upgrade to full BRCP Membership within two months of graduating.
